The hotel says Marsa Alam. The flight says Hurghada.

Read the three letters

Hurghada Airport is HRG; Marsa Alam Airport is RMF. They are separate arrival points, not two names for the same terminal. Marsa Alam has its own airport north of the town, while hotels marketed under the region's name can occupy very different stretches of coast. ^E3E4E5

Copy the complete hotel name and its map pin from the hotel confirmation. A resort name, a town name and a marketing region do different jobs. If your booking is a roulette hotel allocation, ask when the final property will be assigned before accepting a fixed transfer quote.

Compare the arrival you will actually have

Ask for a quote from the airport on the ticket to the specific hotel entrance. Include the scheduled landing time, passenger count, children's ages and every large bag. A vehicle with four seats does not automatically have space for four large suitcases as well.

Request the expected road time for that route, then add the unglamorous parts: leaving the aircraft, immigration, baggage collection and finding the driver. Treat the result as a planning estimate. A flight's landing time is not a hotel arrival time.

Now compare the two options. Write down flight cost, luggage charges, transfer cost and the amount of holiday time used. If one option reaches the room much later, decide whether the monetary saving is worth that particular evening. This is a personal trade-off, not a reason to reject HRG automatically.

Agree what happens outside arrivals

A useful confirmation names the meeting point, says what the driver's sign will show and gives a working contact number. Ask whether the driver is inside the terminal or outside the arrivals hall; keep the operator's actual instructions offline with the hotel address.

Ask separately about flight delays and time spent in immigration. Flight monitoring does not, by itself, explain the waiting policy. If the airline moves you to another flight, send the replacement flight number and airport rather than assuming the original booking will follow you.

Do the return calculation from the departure airport

For the return, begin with the flight's departure time and the airline's required airport arrival time. Work backwards using the journey from your hotel to the correct airport, plus the allowance agreed with the operator. A pickup suitable for RMF cannot simply be reused for HRG.

Get the final hotel pickup time in writing. The confirmation should also separate any money already paid from the balance still due, and state whether that balance is collected on arrival, on departure or both. Keep both transfer legs under the same reference when possible.

The useful souvenir from this planning exercise is a small, boring document: two airports, one hotel pin, two pickup instructions and an unambiguous payment balance. Once those details agree, the first evening can belong to the holiday.
