Arrival is not day one
Keep your arrival day separate from the three-day sightseeing plan. Check the airport on your ticket and the exact hotel address before choosing the onward journey. Sabiha Gökçen's own transport page lists several options, but the last connection to your neighbourhood still matters. T3
Save the hotel address offline and confirm late check-in if relevant. Do not make a timed museum visit depend on the advertised landing time. If the flight is early and everything goes smoothly, a local walk is a welcome extra rather than an appointment you are already late for.
Day one: give Sultanahmet your attention
Make the old city the anchor of the first full day. The Blue Mosque stands in Sultanahmet in close architectural relationship to Hagia Sophia; the district offers a coherent starting point rather than a reason to cross the city repeatedly. T1
Choose one major interior visit that matters to you, then leave room for the surrounding streets and a meal. If you want a second major paid site, check its actual admission process before placing it into the remaining time. Treat access to religious buildings as dependent on their current visitor arrangements.
The purpose of this day is to arrive in the place as well as to see its famous buildings. A pause does not need to justify itself as a hidden discovery. It is enough to sit somewhere you like and understand where you are.

Day two: a waterfront walk and one boat choice
Use the second day for a manageable waterfront or neighbourhood route on the European side. Decide in advance whether this is also your sightseeing-cruise day. A long boat programme can take the central part of the day; it should replace other plans rather than sit awkwardly between them.
Şehir Hatları lists ordinary services separately from its Bosphorus tours. Choose between a useful crossing and a longer sightseeing outing according to what you want the boat to do. The companion ferry guide explains that distinction. T4T5T6
Keep the end of the day near where you finish. A dinner chosen because it is nearby can be more enjoyable than a famous address that sends you straight back into another transfer.
Day three: go to Kadıköy and stay a while
Kadıköy sits on Istanbul's Anatolian shore. GoTürkiye describes the streets extending from the ferry area and the neighbouring district of Moda as places for cafés, shops and cultural life. Use that as a reason to spend time there, rather than merely crossing for a photograph and immediately returning. T2
Choose a loose walking direction, have lunch and leave the afternoon partly open. If you enjoy one street, market or café, there is no need to abandon it because the route has a spare pin. Check the return ferry you intend to use before the day becomes late.
If departure falls on the third day, shorten this plan. Leave luggage and airport transport arrangements settled before setting out, and do not put a cross-water excursion between checkout and a tight flight connection. The city will still have plenty left when you come back.
